As the winter season approaches it is very important to make sure we keep fit and healthy and maintain a good immune system. With that in mind below are some top tips to help with that goal.
Wash your hands!
It may seem obvious but washing your hands throughout the day is essential to staying healthy this winter.
Keep your hands away from your nose and mouth so they don’t attract additional germs. If you have to sneeze urgently try to do so in the crook of your arm so that the germs on your hands don’t come into contact with your nose!
Choose fresh fruits and vegetables high in Vitamin C!
Eating foods rich in Vitamin C helps support your immune system making you more likely to stay fit and healthy.
Sleep longer and better!
Leave your mobile phone and other devices downstairs or better still turn them off completely. Over stimulation of the brain makes it much more difficult to drift off to sleep. Try to get at least 8 – 10 hours sleep a night to help prevent your immune system from weakening and to help keep it healthy.
The more water you drink, the better your kidneys operate in flushing out unwanted toxins. Also the brain gets a boost from water, releasing those much needed “feel good” hormones. Drinking water regularly helps in the production of melatonin, which will also help you sleep.
Regular exercise not only improves your overall fitness which in turn can help keep your immune system healthy, but is also a great stress reliever! The good news is moderate activity is all you need – wrap up warm and go for a brisk walk. Make the activity you choose fun and exercising will never be a chore!
